Government of Malaysia has comfirmed - 8 Locations to build the first Nuclear Reactor, but where? Jom, discuss!! PLEASE VOTE AS WELL AT OUR POLL

Hello all!. We are back. This is one of the things that we want to discuss together.

Actually, last week, Malaysian Government has confirmed that they have identified 8 locations that are the most suitable to build the first nuclear reactor in Malaysia, but they do not mentioned specifically which locations that the nuclear reactor will be built. So, this really shows that our government has taken serious steps in making the nuclear energy as one of the new technology that we need in the future.

So, what about, we all try to pick a location, and give the reason why it is suitable? There are so many locations that are suitable but it seems, the exact locations are still secret. So, let's discuss!

Guys, now you can vote at our poll at the side. Please vote! And we can discuss here.

GO NUCLEAR !!

  1. from what i have been reading, Negeri Sembilan is one of the most likely spots because it is quite near to klang valley where most energy is consumed but not too near to cause serious damage in case of an emergency.

  5. Pahang and Perak might be the most suitable places. Perak most likely cause Pahang's landscape is a bit weird and it is quite exposed to the monsoon wind. Somemore, Perak can be considered the center of the Penisular, building there will be superb... Out of residential areas... Safe for everyone...who are scared...

  6. The location for a NPP should be given a serious attention. It cant be build too close to a residential area. But it cant also build too faraway from city because there will be extra cost to connect the power to major cities.

  7. Hye...
I guess,Pahang and Sarawak is the most suitable places for NPP. It has a lot of undeveloped land and large area that suitable for NPP.

  9. If possible, build it at the titiwangsa mountains. They're pretty far away from residential areas and not populated.

  10. Hello guys!!..

thank you all for giving your opinions!..So, there are many unjustified location yet but so far, what we have read in the internet, the nuclear reactor MAYBE will be built in Perak, since there are many empty mines that can be used as the radioactive container, to keep the nuclear waste.

But this is a suggestion. But first, Malaysia needs to confirm on what type of reactor to be built. Either BWR or PWR, the best location will always be near ocean, which it can use to cool down the nuclear reactor. So, maybe Port Dickson, again. We do not know. But hope the list will keep on going!. Thank you a lot guys!!...

  11. Good thought guys.
I think Negeri Sembilan will be one of the nuclear reactor spot because I've read about that in an article.By the way,no matter where the nuclear is built, make sure that all environmental values is concern.

  12. the best location should be a place where it is least populated and no plans for future development as building a npp would depreciate the value of property around it.and also a place where the residents nearest to the plant does not oppose it.

  13. The locations of the power plant is the most important factor to avoid any mishaps. It should be located at an area which has the least flooding and are not prone to any natural disaster such as earthquakes and tsunamis.

  14. i think Pahang is the suitable for this NPP project. this is becouse Pahang is the largest state in pernisular malaysia. there should be have a large area for this npp. the geographic for this country also good for this NPP.

  15. From what i have read, the nuclear power plant must be build near to the sea. Is it possible for the nuclear power plant to be build near to the lake? If we can build it near to the lake, i think Tasik Kenyir will be fine. Or maybe Tasik Chini. Because this place population is low and far from big city.

  16. i cant come up with a location as im not a professional but , i can say that we dont need a power plant in sarawak because they will have more than enough energy from the bakun dam. any location in the peninsular would be ok as they can connect it to the national grid which goes to all parts of the peninsular malaysia.

  17. I think the best place to built the nuclear plant is Terengganu as its off lower population and its not that developed yet.So i think it would be the best place to build the nuclear power plant.

  18. hye,
they can built the NPP at rural area and they can bring the electricity to the town area .the towm or city was improve and have a more building, somemore whn the NPP built at town ,it can gv a bad impact such like a increasing the temperature.....So throght this idea, the NPP can built the area that is far from the city so that the place such like rural area can be improve slowy so that we can achieve version 2020.

  19. Hye there.

IF one of the npps are to be built near port dickson I'm quite sure that the amount of visitors visiting would decrease exponentially, as it might get :). As per say, we would like to hear from the government real soon of those 8 places. It's now getting very interesting that we are one step further in the nuclear energy production.

  20. i think the most suitable place is in MANJUNG,PERAK. this is because the main power plant that is supplying the most eneryg to the major city that is KL is the manjung power plant, therefore the power grid is already there plus i herd rumous from the staff of the power plant there that there would be another plant to be up coming there. the most likely is the nuclear power plant(NPP) and also because it is situated near the seaside which wil provide a better way to get water to cool down the power plant.

  21. salam..what a great news..i'm very excited with this news..i think the NPP should be built in the village which is the place that is not developed yet..so, this NPP will be a catalyst of the development of that place..other than that, if the leakage occur, it does not effect to many people..TQ

  23. Do you know that somewhere in Perak, there is a place where a little nuclear waste was buried long time ago (during Dr. Mahathir's era)? And the hole where they buried it is sealed with 1 meter concrete and nobody should come 1 km around that area? So I don't think they want to do it in Perak. In my opinion, if Malaysia wants to have our own NPP, it should be built at place so far away from population / people. We don't want to have another Chernobyl! Maybe in Sabah or Sarawak's jungle. Just a suggestion. (I'll stick with green technology :))

  24. In my opinion, planting a nuclear power plant in Sabah and Sarawak is not a good idea. Enough damages had been done to the forests there since there a lot of hydro power dams built there. We don't want another deforestation over there I believe. Penang and Johor could be a good site for a nuclear power plant since these states are in proposal for KL-like developments to attract investments, and this mean there many land allocated for development. And Perak is another brilliant idea, the state is joining Penang and Johor in heavy-development plans, plus if its true that a little nuclear waste was buried there it is positive point.
