  1. a small nuclear energy power plant generates the same amount of energy generated by thousands hectare of solar thermal energy power plant and maybe millions of wind turbine...

so my advice to the man in the pic is juz remove the wind turbines and solar panel from the nuclear energy power plant..it juz wasting your money.. :-)

  2. As what myself felt, concerns of radiation are overblown. But it is said by the Malaysian Nuclear Agency that the radiation exposure during an x-ray treatment is 2,000 times higher than radiation received by someone staying close to a nuclear reactor. And yet, it measure as nowadays nuclear reactor. Few years ahead, as in the picture, who knows nuclear reactor will be totally green as the wind turbin energy and solar energy(both thermal and pv)

actually the nuclear reactor are safe and its just need for high efficiency of maintenance of it.maybe the future of the nuclear reactor should be build like an "IRON MAN" movie.small but efficient.....no need for the solar, wind generator to support the reactor.........

  9. Hey, as everybody says, pictures tells us a thousand story. What I can say about it is nuclear does produce a whole lot more of energy compared to other renewable. However the picture just show the positive means of nuclear. Although nuclear has high safety, but there might be a 1% chance of failure, and the effect of nuclear can be quite dangerous.

    Thank You.

  11. Hi,the picture tells everything and i think it is such a good idea to combine all the energy sources into one certain area because we can minimise the area to build the power plants on a different places for different sort of energy sources. Furthermore, it is also shown that we do not just rely on a single energy source. We maximise the energy source and minimise the area to build the power source. Hence, we will get maximum benefit when we utilize everything that we can get and we still preserve the nature.

I really don't agree with the so called "Tomorrows Nuclear Reactor", no offense to person unveiling it though... Huhu...
Theres no need to combine both technologies into one. Capital costs for wind and nuclear are initially similar for the same average capacity, but in the long term nuclear generates about three times as much power and displaces three times as much CO2 due to the longer operating lifetime of nuclear power plants.
Combing both would certainly cost a bomb...
Just opt for either one, both has their pros and cons...

nuclear energy for better tomorrow or worst?

everything in this whole world has it pros and cons. it all goes to solar energy, wind energy, and all kinds of energies.

"I want people to look at nuclear power. Nuclear power was "villainized" for a reason. We had waste that we didn't know what to do with, and other problems. But the technology in the last several decades has improved. In France, they're now using the waste to power the plant"

  22. Salam,

This might be a good new idea in the future.
However, this idea wont be suitable for country like Malaysia. The wind factor should be taken into consideration

Wind resources are characterized by wind-power density classes, ranging from class 1 (the lowest) to class 7 (the highest). Good wind resources e.g. class 3 and above, which have an average annual wind speed of at least 13 miles per hour. Wind speed is a critical feature of wind resources, because the energy in wind is proportional to the cube of the wind speed. In other words, a stronger wind means a lot more power.

Over the next two decades, a significant number of the power stations
which currently generate our electricity – both nuclear and those that burn
fossil fuels like coal and gas – are scheduled to close and need to be replaced.
Our aim should be to continue to raise living standards and the quality of
life by growing our economy, while at the same time cutting waste and using
every unit of energy as efficiently as possible. Therefore we will also need to transform the
way we produce the energy we need for light, heat and mobility.

  24. Nuclear energy is not cheap and the cost of generating electricity using this medium is rising and is likely to continue rising in the unpredicted future. Back to days in the 1970s, nuclear electricity cost half as much as electricity from burning coal and by 1990, it cost twice as much. Nowadays, it is about four times more expensive than the previous decades.

Thus, are we really prepared for this challenge?

in simple picture it explain the future of world main source of electricity..this project can give a lot of advantages such as more energy can be produce with a small amount of energy of nuclear,it is a more modern way 2 produce electricity.however wen we refer to the nuclear energy, sure it will have a lot of question mark and a lot of doubt must be clear..
1st thing is about the safety of it..when look back, nuclear energy are the most powerful energy, and it will be give a big effect to the world when a error occur in the nuclear plant. Although we can make a lot of safety n precaution but as human production sure there a mistake can happen.
And another-thing,world big country are competing for nuclear energy to produce the most powerful weapon..and its sure gonna give a big impact 2 us.
so to make d picture as reality we need 2 take serious on the side effect of it.If not we all will suffer it..thanks!

  29. “There is no ‘peaceful use’ of nuclear power,” Marcus Atkinson said. For me, nuclear is the key for a brighter future. Back to 30 years ago, Asia region is the nuclear free area, but recently voted as the most high nuclear growth research region. Example, Japan has started their nuclear technologies around 1980 and called 'nuclear obsessed country' as 29% of its power supply came from nuclear power plant. Malaysia should make Japan as example for this as few years later, we gonna run out of petroleum. Moreover, nuclear is not as bad as the explosion it is if we use it wisely.

  32. to combine nuclear reactor with wind turbine and solar panels is not a good idea because nuclear power is sufficient enough to produce electricity demand. what we need to do is to try increasing the efficiency of nuclear reactor to make it works better and with less energy losses. Combining it with wind and solar need higher amount of budget and the efficiency of wind and solar is not that good compare to nuclear..

  33. about the wind turbine, basically wind turbines can operate and produce its maximum power output when it is located at more strategic location such as offshore and high altitudes sites. But we we combine turbine with nuclear reactor and locate it at high altitude, is it safe?

then, about the solar technology attached on the reactor, we need to consider both type of solar panels used, either it is passive solar or active solar, because both of them come with their own advantages and disadvantages on the reactor itself.

i think this idea suites malaysia as we can be considered as minnows in the development of nuclear energy.
so malaysia should start the plan of developing nuclear power from a small size . besides that from the pic. the man is using wind energy to rotate the turbine as we can aspect wind all along the year . besides that it is also using solar system to generate the nuclear power and this idea will the best for malaysia .

In the future, the wind turbine and the solar panels will generate electricity so that the nuclear reactors can work without the needs of extra electricity. This is really saving the cost of developing nuclear power when the energy needed to make it work are already produce by the solar panels and the wind turbine.Extra energy + Cost saving.

in my opinion, nuclear power certainly could contribute to the Earth by playing a “small part” in plans to avert global warming. Householders should start being "green" by adding solar panels or wind turbines to their homes. Although it requires daytime to produce energy with solar panels and windy days to produce energy with wind turbines, a constant stream of clean energy can be supplied by the nuclear energy daily.

To built a nuclear reactor will cost between USD8-20 bilion in 2009,and to make it cost worthy we atleast have to use it for 20years(minimum). We havent talked about buying ''depleting'' uranium and the cost to dispose the waste(which will cost more in years to come). Well not to mention it's hazardous to surrounding life-stock..enough said,to many cons versus pros, better look into sustainable development...note:The picture is wrong, you cant be playing ball near the nuclear reactor..;)

How big is the risk for the engineer to fix it?Imagine what if the the wind turbine/solar fails, we have to go all the way up on to the nuclear reactor power plant which has alot of exposure to the heat and radiation from the nuclear reaction. It is better off if we install the solar panel wind turbine at another safe place or a higher/windy place(wind turbine) where the maximum output can be obtained.

I think that is really redundant energy generation. In fact the better word would be 'insignificant', as the energy generated by wind and especially solar is very little compared to what is generated by nuclear, talking in relation to size of solar panel and wind turbine to size of the NPP. Nuclear is sufficient. Adding others would only waste the nations funds. But it is okay to take it in light humour.
