well....a very thoughtful picture. nuclear energy plant will require less space to generate maximum output compared to wind-farm. the solar panels and wind turbine are for plan B
This might be a good new idea in the future. However, this idea wont be suitable for country like Malaysia. The wind factor should be taken into consideration
Wind resources are characterized by wind-power density classes, ranging from class 1 (the lowest) to class 7 (the highest). Good wind resources e.g. class 3 and above, which have an average annual wind speed of at least 13 miles per hour. Wind speed is a critical feature of wind resources, because the energy in wind is proportional to the cube of the wind speed. In other words, a stronger wind means a lot more power.
Over the next two decades, a significant number of the power stations which currently generate our electricity – both nuclear and those that burn fossil fuels like coal and gas – are scheduled to close and need to be replaced. Our aim should be to continue to raise living standards and the quality of life by growing our economy, while at the same time cutting waste and using every unit of energy as efficiently as possible. Therefore we will also need to transform the way we produce the energy we need for light, heat and mobility.
Nuclear energy is not cheap and the cost of generating electricity using this medium is rising and is likely to continue rising in the unpredicted future. Back to days in the 1970s, nuclear electricity cost half as much as electricity from burning coal and by 1990, it cost twice as much. Nowadays, it is about four times more expensive than the previous decades.
Thus, are we really prepared for this challenge?

integrating all the green way of generating power to mass produce energy might not be an economical way of doing it. for example, would be better if a hundred windmill is installed on a farm where the wind is at the optimum level.
In my opinion, combination of solar and nuclear power is the great idea. Just forget about the wind turbine because it's not so effective in term of space and condition we need. By taking the wind factor into account, wind turbine not suitable in malaysia. But YES for solar and nuke :)
“There is no ‘peaceful use’ of nuclear power,” Marcus Atkinson said. For me, nuclear is the key for a brighter future. Back to 30 years ago, Asia region is the nuclear free area, but recently voted as the most high nuclear growth research region. Example, Japan has started their nuclear technologies around 1980 and called 'nuclear obsessed country' as 29% of its power supply came from nuclear power plant. Malaysia should make Japan as example for this as few years later, we gonna run out of petroleum. Moreover, nuclear is not as bad as the explosion it is if we use it wisely.

nuclear reactor can generate very large amount of energy..why do we need both solar panel and wind turbine???it maybe help increasing the energy created, but in very small amount and it is wasting money...
to combine nuclear reactor with wind turbine and solar panels is not a good idea because nuclear power is sufficient enough to produce electricity demand. what we need to do is to try increasing the efficiency of nuclear reactor to make it works better and with less energy losses. Combining it with wind and solar need higher amount of budget and the efficiency of wind and solar is not that good compare to nuclear..
muhammad fadlullah bin amram zanyzeal_09@yahoo.com
about the wind turbine, basically wind turbines can operate and produce its maximum power output when it is located at more strategic location such as offshore and high altitudes sites. But we we combine turbine with nuclear reactor and locate it at high altitude, is it safe?
then, about the solar technology attached on the reactor, we need to consider both type of solar panels used, either it is passive solar or active solar, because both of them come with their own advantages and disadvantages on the reactor itself.
hi, from wat i see from the pic is it shows about starting the nuclear energy from a small size to a power house in the world. i think this idea suites malaysia as we can be considered as minnows in the development of nuclear energy. so malaysia should start the plan of developing nuclear power from a small size . besides that from the pic. the man is using wind energy to rotate the turbine as we can aspect wind all along the year . besides that it is also using solar system to generate the nuclear power and this idea will the best for malaysia .
The picture can also tells different meanings. In the future, the wind turbine and the solar panels will generate electricity so that the nuclear reactors can work without the needs of extra electricity. This is really saving the cost of developing nuclear power when the energy needed to make it work are already produce by the solar panels and the wind turbine.Extra energy + Cost saving.
future of nuclear? probably no. the wind turbine and the solar panels at a nuclear power plant is highly unnecessary. redundant and possibly hard to maintain.
in my opinion, nuclear power certainly could contribute to the Earth by playing a “small part” in plans to avert global warming. Householders should start being "green" by adding solar panels or wind turbines to their homes. Although it requires daytime to produce energy with solar panels and windy days to produce energy with wind turbines, a constant stream of clean energy can be supplied by the nuclear energy daily.

Hahahaha...nice picture broz.. Ya lets the future comes faster where the gain is from three sources itself..NUCLEAR +WIND GENERATE+ SOLAR..Its becoz they are the sources which give us energy without any damage to our environment and also us.Lets apply it so that our pray and effort to make our world green is achieved succesfully.:)
Even if we go nuclear...we still need to adopt other renewable energy as well...it's not a good idea to rely heavily on just one source...we need nuclear and other renewable energy to compliment each other
based on the picture, i do agree if we try to combine all those energies because as we know, Malaysia has a hot and humid tropical climate. Therefore, we have the capability to combine the wind, solar and nuclear energy. In addition, we can reduce the cost due to not relying just on fuels or coal which the price is getting higher day after day.
ZUNIESYAFIQ BIN ZULKAFLY ME084002 z_syafiq1113@yahoo.com
nothing is perfect. what i do mean by this sentence is that, the nuclear energy can produce a large amount of energy but with the solar panels and wind turbine it would produce a larger amount of energy, and also the energy taken from the solar panels and the turbine can be used to work the nuclear reactor and can also be used for a specified places, because we don't know what will happen in the future and what is the new things that would be out and how much energy we need because everyday the education is going further and many new technological things are produced and the world will be all computerized. so it wont be negative if we combined it all together. Ahmed Mohamed Al Gouda ce082549 cool_zool90@hotmail.com
Firstly,I dont agree with nuclear reactor. It is efficient, but not cost effective. To built a nuclear reactor will cost between USD8-20 bilion in 2009,and to make it cost worthy we atleast have to use it for 20years(minimum). We havent talked about buying ''depleting'' uranium and the cost to dispose the waste(which will cost more in years to come). Well not to mention it's hazardous to surrounding life-stock..enough said,to many cons versus pros, better look into sustainable development...note:The picture is wrong, you cant be playing ball near the nuclear reactor..;)
I don't really agree with the idea of combining solar panel & wind turbine on a nuclear power plant . What if one of the panel fails? How big is the risk for the engineer to fix it?Imagine what if the the wind turbine/solar fails, we have to go all the way up on to the nuclear reactor power plant which has alot of exposure to the heat and radiation from the nuclear reaction. It is better off if we install the solar panel wind turbine at another safe place or a higher/windy place(wind turbine) where the maximum output can be obtained.
We cannot escape discussing about nuclear without including the possiblity of radiation leak as well. Even with efforts to make it more green, a lot of research has to be done so that what happen in Chernobyl does not happen anywhere else.
MUHAMAD HAFIZUL BIN MOHD NASIR ME084164 pjoe87@gmail.com
my concern about the relevant of the nuclear energy to produce an electricity in Malaysia since we have a hydro plant, and Malaysia didn't have any problem with water source to generate the hydro plant such as rain not like other country such as Iran. we should see what the most relevant and advantage this energy source to our country.
AHMAD HARMAINI BIN AZIZUL ME083840 ahmad.harmaini@gmail.com
I don’t believe nuclear energy is the best solution for energy crisis in Malaysia. There are more disadvantages we can point out such as managing the radioactive waste. It is extremely hazardous that we have to look after for several thousand years. It is absolutely not a good option for an alternative energy.
MUHAMAD HAFIZUL BIN MOHD NASIR ME084164 pjoe87@gmail.com
In my opinion, wind turbine and the solar panels will generate electricity so that our government can save more costs on electricity. It is one of the good ideas for energy crisis in our country.
Hello, I think that is really redundant energy generation. In fact the better word would be 'insignificant', as the energy generated by wind and especially solar is very little compared to what is generated by nuclear, talking in relation to size of solar panel and wind turbine to size of the NPP. Nuclear is sufficient. Adding others would only waste the nations funds. But it is okay to take it in light humour.
in my view, which this NPP can conclude as 3 in 1 which can produce energy from nuclear sources ,turbine and solar. So,this is such a good example to publish Sathis Kumar Kanesan sinkansen_19@yahoo.com
ok...if want to bulit NPP with a solar and a turbine, sure it will high cost of project. So will our goverment wiling to do like this.sumore this can be said all in one,so can reduce the built land and it can built in such a small land with giving a high efficiency of product.

Salam,
ReplyDeletein my opinion, nuclear power certainly could contribute to the Earth by playing a “small part” in plans to avert global warming.

ReplyDeleteYa lets the future comes faster where the gain is from three sources itself..NUCLEAR +WIND GENERATE+ SOLAR..Its becoz they are the sources which give us energy without any damage to our environment and also us.Lets apply it so that our pray and effort to make our world green is achieved succesfully.:)

Very nice idea..but rather than locate it at the nuclear reactor it would be best if it is own by each house in the Malaysia.

Even if we go nuclear...we still need to adopt other renewable energy as well...it's not a good idea to rely heavily on just one source...we need nuclear and other renewable energy to compliment each other
ReplyDeletebased on the picture, i do agree if we try to combine all those energies because as we know, Malaysia has a hot and humid tropical climate. Therefore, we have the capability to combine the wind, solar and nuclear energy. In addition, we can reduce the cost due to not relying just on fuels or coal which the price is getting higher day after day.

nothing is perfect. what i do mean by this sentence is that, the nuclear energy can produce a large amount of energy but with the solar panels and wind turbine it would produce a larger amount of energy, and also the energy taken from the solar panels and the turbine can be used to work the nuclear reactor and can also be used for a specified places, because we don't know what will happen in the future and what is the new things that would be out and how much energy we need because everyday the education is going further and many new technological things are produced and the world will be all computerized. so it wont be negative if we combined it all together.

Even with efforts to make it more green, a lot of research has to be done so that what happen in Chernobyl does not happen anywhere else.

my concern about the relevant of the nuclear energy to produce an electricity in Malaysia since we have a hydro plant, and Malaysia didn't have any problem with water source to generate the hydro plant such as rain not like other country such as Iran. we should see what the most relevant and advantage this energy source to our country.

nuclear power is enviromental friendly and the goverment should start to implememnt it asap. its a another way to stop global warming.

hi, i totally agree with the firs comment. nuclear energy is so powerful and there is no need for extra alternative energy.

I don’t believe nuclear energy is the best solution for energy crisis in Malaysia. There are more disadvantages we can point out such as managing the radioactive waste. It is extremely hazardous that we have to look after for several thousand years. It is absolutely not a good option for an alternative energy.

In my opinion, wind turbine and the solar panels will generate electricity so that our government can save more costs on electricity. It is one of the good ideas for energy crisis in our country.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteI think that is really redundant energy generation. In fact the better word would be 'insignificant', as the energy generated by wind and especially solar is very little compared to what is generated by nuclear, talking in relation to size of solar panel and wind turbine to size of the NPP. Nuclear is sufficient. Adding others would only waste the nations funds. But it is okay to take it in light humour.

hye,
ReplyDeletein my view, which this NPP can conclude as 3 in 1 which can produce energy from nuclear sources ,turbine and solar. So,this is such a good example to publish

hye,
ReplyDeleteok...if want to bulit NPP with a solar and a turbine, sure it will high cost of project. So will our goverment wiling to do like this.sumore this can be said all in one,so can reduce the built land and it can built in such a small land with giving a high efficiency of product.
